Parenting your child with neurodevelopmental disorders

Our program consists of seven interactive, face to face sessions facilitated by two experienced clinical psychologists, Kathy Moar and Angela Davis. Together, they will guide you through a comprehensive curriculum that covers various aspects of child development, behaviour, and neurodevelopmental difficulties. By the end of this group, you will gain a deeper understanding of the factors that influence your child's behaviour, adjustment, and learning.

Here's an overview of the program sessions:

SESSION 1: OUTLINE AND GOALS OF THE PROGRAM
In this introductory session, we will outline the goals and structure of the program, setting the stage for your journey towards better understanding and supporting your child with autism.

SESSION 2: ISSUES AFTER DIAGNOSIS
We will address the issues that commonly arise after receiving a diagnosis for your child, including insights from assessments and reports. This session aims to provide guidance and support as you navigate the post-diagnosis phase.

SESSION 3: UNDERSTANDING AND RESPONDING TO CHALLENGING BEHAVIOURS
In this session, we will explore the underlying causes of challenging behaviours and how neurodevelopmental disorders can influence a child's responses. You will learn strategies to better understand and effectively respond to these behaviours.

SESSION 4: STRATEGIES FOR SETTING LIMITS AND RESPONDING TO CHALLENGING BEHAVIOURS
This session focuses on practical strategies for setting limits and managing challenging behaviours. We will provide you with valuable tools and techniques to create a structured and supportive environment for your child.

SESSION 5: WAYS TO BUILD SKILLS, ENCOURAGE NEW BEHAVIOURS, AND STRENGTHEN RELATIONSHIPS
Building upon the previous sessions, we will delve into ways to foster skill development, encourage new behaviours, and enhance your relationships with your child. You will learn effective techniques for play and communication that promote growth and connection.

SESSION 6: REVIEW CONCEPTS AND DISCUSS INDIVIDUAL APPLICATION
In this session, we will review key concepts covered throughout the program and provide an opportunity for you to discuss individual application and seek personalised guidance.

SESSION 7: FOLLOW-UP ONE MONTH LATER
To ensure continued support and growth, we will have a follow-up session one month after the program concludes. This session will focus on further education and information regarding neurodevelopmental disorders.

This group program is specifically aimed at parents with a child aged between 4 to 12 years old. We encourage both parents to attend, and to make it more accessible, only one fee will be charged per couple.
